One of the most influential figures shaping American food culture, Reichl has served as the restaurant critic for the Los Angeles Times and New York Times and editor-in-chief of Gourmet Magazine. She is the author of books including Tender at the Bone, Comfort Me with Apples, Save Me the Plums, Delicious!, and My Kitchen Year: 136 Recipes that Saved My Life. Reichl is the recipient of six James Beard Awards.
